Client Background

A national EPC contractor supporting hyperscale data center construction projects across the United States engaged Advastar to help scale its internal project delivery teams. The firm was responsible for engineering, procurement, and construction execution on large, complex data center builds, often managing multiple projects simultaneously across different markets. Their success depended on strong leadership, disciplined project controls, and effective coordination between engineering and field execution.

The Challenge

The EPC firm needed to rapidly expand its internal team to support growing demand for data center construction. The challenge centered on securing experienced professionals in leadership, construction management, project controls, procurement, and safety roles who could operate effectively in fast-paced, high-pressure environments. The competitive labor market made it difficult to find individuals with both data center experience and the ability to manage cost, schedule, and quality across multiple concurrent projects. Without the right internal structure, there was risk of reduced visibility, schedule inefficiencies, and misalignment between engineering and construction activities.

The Solution

Advastar worked closely with the EPC firm to identify and deliver talent across key areas of project execution. We supported hiring for project executives, project managers, construction managers, superintendents, and field engineers responsible for driving day-to-day execution. We also helped strengthen project controls capabilities by delivering professionals such as project controls managers, P6 schedulers, cost engineers, and estimators who could improve tracking and forecasting across project timelines and budgets. In addition, we supported procurement and commercial functions by helping source buyers, contracts administrators, and supply chain professionals, along with safety managers, safety technicians, and commissioning personnel to support project startup and system validation.

The Outcome

With a stronger internal team in place, the EPC firm improved coordination across engineering, procurement, and construction functions. Project schedules became more predictable, cost tracking improved, and overall execution became more consistent across multiple data center builds. The firm was able to scale its operations with greater confidence and continued to rely on Advastar to support additional hyperscale data center projects.
